Our Field Hockey team represented the VKNation in the 13th Annual Knights of Columbus Nun Run 5K.
Community involvement is at the forefront of the Benedictine values at St. E, and our athletic teams continue to incorporate those values into their actions on and off the court and field. Our Field Hockey team participated in the 13th Annual Knights of Columbus Nun Run 5K, representing St. Elizabeth Viking Pride in numbers (26 participants on our team!). The team helped raise over $500 for the Little Sisters of the Poor at the Jeanne Jugan Residence. The Little Sisters joined in for the run and all the fun too!
For over 100 years, the Little Sisters of the Poor has fulfilled their mission to offer the neediest elderly of every race and religion a home where they will be welcomed as Christ, cared for as family and accompanied with dignity until God calls them to himself. The Little Sisters of the Poor provide high-quality care in a loving home atmosphere to elderly persons of low income. Proceeds from the 2019 event will go toward the procurement of a 14 passenger transit bus/coach, which will accommodate our Residents who need assistance with wheelchair accessibility during various outings such as shopping trips to Walmart and Walgreens, local restaurants and community activities. These transportation opportunities are essential in maintaining a senior’s wellbeing, whether it be physical, emotional, social or otherwise.
