The VKNation raised $3,135 to benefit the Leukemia Research Foundation of Delaware
At St. Elizabeth, service is a huge part of who we are as a school and as a community. Our boys basketball program merged their two passions, basketball and service, to come together and spread awareness and contribute towards cancer research.
On Thursday, January 30, 2020 St. Elizabeth joined forces with Caravel Academy to raise funds for the Leukemia Research Foundation of Delaware at the first annual Hoopin' For a Cure basketball game in the St. E Center. The St. Elizabeth and Caravel communities were able to purchase shirts for the Purple Out game. 100% of the proceeds from the shirt sales and the game activities benefited the Leukemia Research Foundation of Delaware.
Through the efforts of our students and basketball families, St. Elizabeth School raised $3,135 to donate to the Leukemia Research Foundation of Delaware. Money was also raised through corporate sponsorships. For each 3-point shot made, $1,000 was donated to the cause. An additional $5,000 was raised during the course of the game, bringing the overall donation to over $8,000 raised in one evening.
Our basketball seniors and captains presented the check to LRFDE's founder, Denni Ferrera, during morning assembly on Monday, March 2, 2020.
The LRFDE's mission is to provide ongoing funding to support cutting edge blood cancer research while actively advocating for advanced therapies and patient care. Click HERE if you'd like to join their cause by learning more, volunteering or by making a donation.
