Vikings Support "Spread the Word to End the Word" Campaign

March 4th, 2020 is Spread the Word to End the Word Day. In support of the Special Olympics national campaign, St. Elizabeth students and faculty took the pledge to stop saying the R-word and other offensive language in an effort to create a more inclusive environment for all.
Why Pledge?
By signing our school banner, students pledge to stop saying the R-word as a starting point toward creating more accepting attitudes and communities for all people, especially in schools. Respectful and inclusive language is essential to the movement for the dignity and humanity of people with intellectual disABILITIES. However, most of society does not recognize the hurtful, dehumanizing and exclusive effects of the R-word.
Language effects attitudes. Attitudes impact actions. So today we ask you to make your pledge for #Respect.
By joining the Spread the Word to End the Word movement, you will join over 700,000 people who have pledged their support to creating an inclusive society. Visit and take the pledge and together we can create communities of acceptance and inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
