Matt Ford '06 Receives Wilmington Award

Matt was one of six City residents to be honored by Mayor Mike Purzycki as a recipient of the 2022 Wilmington Awards.

Established by former Mayor James M. Baker in 2001 to recognize outstanding accomplishments of citizens, the Wilmington Awards Program recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of distinguished Wilmington citizens who excel in the fields of the arts, athletics, business, education, environment, health or science. It also recognizes individuals for their community service, heroism, contributions to the faith-based community, and dedication to the cause of human and civil rights. In addition, senior citizens are recognized for their accomplishments.

At the end of the night, the Mayor approached Matt and said, “in all the years I’ve been on the selection committee, we’ve never had a nomination as powerful as yours.”

Matt, a self-proclaimed proud “city-boy,” said "I will never stop working to make Wilmington a better place for everyone."
